I asked Vernadel what was the deal for the tree lighting’s tonight – there was more going on than I thought. Here’s the scoop:

Join the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Memorial Park in Friday Harbor on Friday, December 4.  Plan to come down early in the afternoon for holiday shopping and dinner at your favorite eatery.

Special activities start at 4:30 pm with the traditional Hot Chocolate, Cookies, Prizes, Caroling, Coffee from Soroptimist and the Kiwanis Hot Dog Trailer. Plus see if you can find all the Christmas characters in the crowd!

Look for new activities that have been added this year!  Island Rec will provide a Children’s Creative Center at the enclosed area in the Arcade Building.  You will also be able to purchase pictures with Santa in a very unique Island setting!  The pictures will be available at the Chamber office at 135 Spring Street.  Both of these fun new additions will be available from 4:30 – 6:00 pm.

Enjoy singing Christmas Carols with your neighbor as we watch Memorial Park light up at 6:00 pm. Stroll by the businesses and see the wonderful decorations that they are displaying.  But remember that some of them have decorated the inside as well so you don’t want to miss a thing!

For more information contact the San Juan Island Chamber at 360-378-5240, 7 days a week from 10 am to 4 pm.  See other fabulous holiday events at www.sanjuanisland.org
