PDA: The contest named the ferries as the best place to kiss....

A television station in Seattle started a contest last spring to have people pick the “Best Of” around the area….they ran it again this year, and the Visitors’ Bureau’s Robin Jacobson reports who got singled out:

“Best of Northwest Escapes” Honors 30 San Juan Islands Winners

NBC Seattle affiliate KING-TV’s Evening Magazine has just announced its 2010 list of “Best of Northwest Escapes,” with categories voted upon by over 14,000 viewers and website visitors.  Top 5 placement goes to 30 nominees from the San Juan Islands, including these nine in first place:

Earthbox Motel and Spa:  Motel
Naknek Charters:  Best Scuba Diving (second year at #1)
Pelindaba Lavender Farm:  Best Public Garden (second year at #1)
Port of Friday Harbor Marina:  Marina
San Juan Island:  Island
The Outlook Inn:  Hotel
Victoria Clipper:  Cruise
Washington State Ferry, including the San Juans route:  Place to Kiss
Wildlife Cycles:  Bike Shop (tie)

In addition, eight more from the San Juan Islands made the list as runners-up in their categories:  San Juan Islands Scenic Byway (Scenic Drive), Orcas Island (Island), The Whale Museum (Museum),  Discovery Sea Kayaks (Eco Adventure), States Inn and Ranch (Bed and Breakfast), Maya’s Whale Watching (Whale Watching), Lakedale Resort at Three Lakes (Campground) and Friday Harbor (Tourist Town).  Evening Magazine’s list for Top 5 includes 30 San Juan Islands nominees throughout 20 categories.  Congratulations to all San Juan Islands honorees!
