There are always things to do & places to go & people to see:

• Remember to plan to go by the Library to meet Margie tomorrow, if you haven’t already. That’s at 4:30-6:30, Thursday night…

• FHHS senior Madi McPadden wanted you to know about a special deal this weekend:

This is on behalf of the Calvary Chapel San Juan Youth Group: On Saturday, November 20th starting at 7:00 pm, there will be a concert starring Picadilly and the New Divide at Calvery Chapel San Juan (previously the location of the Pig War Museum). You can checkout the New Divide at thenewdivide.com and can also get more information by calling the church at 378-7268. All the youth in the community are welcome!

Chetzemoka, in her inaugral week....

Richard Rodriguez posted his observations after riding on the Washington State Ferries’ latest, newest boat, the Chetzemoka downsound earlier this week.

It’s a special and important time when a child finds his or her family, and we’ll be celebrating that this week with National Adoption week…here’s more from Jane at the Superior Court:

San Juan County Superior Court will celebrate National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 19. The public and media are welcome to join the celebration.

The event begins at 3:30 p.m. at the San Juan County Courthouse, and will include reception,  speakers, information tables, refreshments, face painting. The public and members of the media are welcome to attend this uncommon view into adoption proceedings, to speak with families and court officials and to learn more about foster adoptions.

National Adoption Day was founded in 2000 by a coalition of national child welfare organizations hoping to raise awareness of the thousands of foster children available for adoption and awaiting permanent, “forever” families.

In Washington, more than 9,100 children live in foster care and more than 1,300 are available for adoption. Nationwide, more than 120,000 foster children await adoption.

“I would like to extend a special invitation to the parents and children of adoption families. Please join us and share your stories.” Donald E. Eaton, Superior Court Judge

• There’s a pet First Aid Class this weekend with Patricia – here’s the scoop:

It will be on Saturday, November 20th from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. at the EMS building on Spring Street. The cost is $50/person. People need to call me at 378-6360 or cell 378-7306 or email me at [email protected]. This will be the first time I have ever given a half day class instead of a full day!
