Here come’s New Year’s Eve on the island!

You probably have made your plans by now, but just in case, here are some ideas from folks around the island:

• One couple (who I KNOW you know) went out at Griffin Bay & at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s for 2000 & set up a barrel of water in a tree & then got naked & pulled it down on them. Neighbors could hear the scream…then they went home to the warm fire & drank polar bears.

I just asked her if it was OK for me to tell the story, and she said sure but not to use names, because we don’t want to embarrass the relatives….

• Another group of friends of yours & mine goes to Lime Kiln or thereabouts and watch the sun go down for the last time for the year & everyone makes their wishes of the good things they visualize for the coming year.

• My Southern friends eat black-eyed peas…well, yeah.
