What’s happening…

This month's Garden Club meeting was the annual potluck, which was fun AND filling....the Club will not have a meeting in January (next week), with the next one scheduled for February.

Somebody told me that a consultant is someone who will borrow your watch to tell you what time it is…similarly, these may be things you already know…

• Ken Clark tells me that Extreme Fitness has yoga classes planned for the new year – starting January 9th,

Hatha yoga emphasizes stretching, grounding, breathing and deep relaxation. All levels are welcome.

+++++++++++++

• Debbie at Roche Harbor Market tells me that there are only 25 spots left in next year’s Roche Harbor Salmon Classic in early February.

With a first place prize of $10K, this fishing derby sells out every year…click here to get the entry forms & get aboard!

Sandpebble

This week only! ....for a while...

• Carolyn & Brian at Sandpebble have a deal for you:

You have two more days to shop Sandpebble before the BIG remodel begins! Christmas items are still 50% off and everything else in the store is 20% off. We are closing for the month of January…don’t worry we will keep you posted 🙂

Grab your Valentine’s Day cards now and any other goodies you might need.

• Hope not only springs eternal, it sometimes looks like it’s going to win, or at least comes close.

If you heard unmuffled roars around the island last night, it was probably because the University of Washington was a heavy favorite to get drilled in the Alamo Bowl, but showed lot of grit in scoring 28 in the second to take a 35-24 halftime lead, then to trail only 53-49 after three, before bowing to Baylor in a highest-bowl-game scoring 67-56 loss that still left Husky fans feeling pretty proud (and probably left the one Baylor fan I know on the island feeling pretty happy.)

That's FHES second grade teacher Shannon Evans leading her tribe to the Mullis Center before Christmas to sing for folks....she got engaged over Christmas, which is why she'll smile when you say "Happy New Year" to her...

It’s moving time…looks like the Islands Museum of Art is on the move again, and Lavendera will move into their spot early next month (in the former Dominique’s Clothing/Be Chic spot next to the Little Store). Here’s more from Lavendera’s Celie:

Lavendera Day Spa is moving. The last day at our old location is Saturday, December 31st.  We will continue taking appointments starting  on January 2nd in a temporary location. Please call 360-378-3637 for info.

Look for our opening in our new location on 285 Spring Street at the end of January. We look forward to serving you in our wonderful larger location soon.
