Limbo is one of the many fun activities kids partake in…

Bill and Rita still have openings for their last camp of the summer! Its name is Camp Minihaha and runs from August 6-9 from 9am to 2pm. Camps are bilingual and open for enrollment! Here are all the details according to the hardworking Camp Coordinators:

Now in their 28th year, Bill & Rita Ament offer a Summer Creative Arts Day Camp that is a nurturing, loving and unique environment combined with fantastic outdoor fun. Arts and crafts, dance, zumbatomic, acting, swimming, games, nature exploration, treasure hunts, music, camp chants and songs plus their ever popular Native American teachings and celebrations are all woven together with the natural beauty of the San Juan Islands. Their exciting day camps combine the beach, forests, lakes and fields with a stimulating range of age appropriate activities, guided by Bill & Rita and their experienced camp counselors.

Campers having a grand time in the sun…

A typical camp day consists of a morning get together for Native American Indian sign language, plus singing songs and camp chants, exercising and doing all kinds of animal yoga poses, a peace pipe ceremony celebrating life as a tribe including a deer dance, bell ringers, a drum circle, and passing the peace pipe and sharing where we want peace to go to and sharing what we are grateful for. On certain days we do beading, painting, or making and decorating our dancing ceremonial sticks with island pine cones, driftwood, fabric, colorful tape, twine and beads. Some of the older children will make corn husk dolls and God’s eyes. We would play games, hula hoop, limbo, and dance Zumbatomic style. We also have scarf fashion shows, which are really a lot of fun. We go on explorations, make nature bracelets, get tattoos, play and discover at the sea, and go swimming and make castles, moats, and hot tubs at Lakedale, which is a summer favorite. We also laugh, hug, and are dedicated to having peace, safety and harmony the whole day. At the end of these four fun-filled days, we invite parents and friends to a celebration ceremony. The children share their art, their new camp t-shirts (included in the $135 registration fee), camp chants, sign language, yoga, Zumbatomic plus they receive their ceremonial name, like Little Pony, Laughing Star, Buffalo Boy to name a few. The parents even get to hear the story of the Deer and learn and do sign language, too.

All camps are Monday through Thursday, from 9am to 2pm. Bill & Rita Ament are known for their love, compassion, and joy working with children. It has been their passion for over 30 years. Children are excited to go to camp year after year. They even get enrollments from children whose parents used to come to camp when they were young children. Bill & Rita also operate Dance Happy during the school year. They have dance classes in Creative, Pre-Ballet, Tap, Zumbatomic, Jazz and Hip Hop for Kids 3-12 and Teens and Adult classes in Tap, Zumba, Zumba Gold and Ballroom dance classes.
