Job opening at the Library

The San Juan Island Library is seeking a Program Associate to design and implement innovative programming for adult library patrons based on priorities established with the Library Director.

The Program Associate will participate in event marketing by developing, designing and producing promotional materials such as brochures, booklists and program flyers, along with web-based newsletters and blogposts. Other job duties include serving patrons at the library service desk by telephone and/or in person, attending staff meetings and training, and working with other employees on special projects and committees as assigned.

This is a part-time, professional position with an anticipated schedule of 15 hours/week, including evening and weekend shifts. The position qualifies for the following Library benefits: Sick pay, holiday pay, vacation pay and longevity pay, along with ongoing staff training and education.

Qualified individuals will posses the following:

  • Bachelor degree, Masters in Library and Information Science preferred
  • 1 – 3 years prior library experience and/or equivalent service experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing and marketing community-based programs
  • Experience with web-based marketing, knowledge of JOOMLA a plus
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects
  • Proficiency with web searching, email, and Microsoft Office applications
