Joining forces with the Zumba Fitness corporation, Bill & Rita Ament are bringing “The Great Calorie Drive” to our community. The benefits of working out and dancing in Zumba are numerous. One example is that Rita has lost 74 pounds in the past ten months. It is fun, you dance, laugh, sweat, work out and feel fabulous. In a one hour Zumba class you actually burn approximately 750 calories.

And not only that, but when you attend one of Bill & Rita’s Zumba classes, Zumba Headquarters will donate money for those 750 calories to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Feeding America – major organizations feeding millions worldwide and in the United States. You will not only be burning calories in a Zumba class and feeling good, you will be also be donating those calories to feed the hungry.

Bill & Rita had the thrilling experience last February of attending their Zumba Fitness Conference in Los Angeles, a huge conference designed for Zumba licensed instructors. They joined 5,000 Zumba teachers from all over the world. It was three action packed days of trainings, dancing, motivational speakers, and, mostly, the deep love that is woven in the Zumba organization and their staff.

Beto Perez, the founder of Zumba, is originally from Columbia. Zumba is a Latin based dance/exercise fitness program designed for all ages, fitness and body types. Through love, health, well being and inspiration, Beto has been committed to transforming people’s lives one person at a time – a big match to what Bill and Rita are all about. Many different cultures were present, speaking many different languages. Bill & Rita got to practice their Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese. It felt like the United Nations dressed in rainbow colors.

For more information call Bill and Rita, 378-9628. Zumba classes, located at Dance Workshop II, are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:45 am and 5:30 pm, and Saturdays, 10:00 am. “The Great Calorie Drive” is starting now. You can just show up and dance.
