Public Statement:

Since the Treasurers Office basically operates as the banker for San Juan County – collecting, disbursing, investing and managing public funds – many of my friends have approached me recommending that I run for the position San Juan County Treasurer. At first I was reluctant as I have never run for public office before, but after carefully thinking it over, I believe I could put the customer service skills and efficiency I have learned in the private industry to work to serve the public as the San Juan County Treasurer. My campaign will emphasize the spirit of the islands of having strong qualifications but being a little different from the mainstream…

  • Extensive experience with local personal, real estate, business, commercial, nonprofit and public entity financing.
  • Expert financial and cash flows Analyst.
  • Substantial budgeting experience.

Education:

  • MBA from Seattle University
  • Master of International Management from Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management.
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University.

Personal background:

  • Raised 5 children (K through 12) in public schools in Friday Harbor.
  • Married for 32 years to Lisa.
  • Soccer Coach – 21 years.
  • Baseball Coach – 5 years.
  • Past Enrichment Teacher at Friday Harbor Elementary School.
  • Past Friday Harbor Fire Department Volunteer – 2 years.
  • Past Treasurer and Friday Harbor Kiwanis Club member – 10 years.
  • Past Treasurer and San Juan Soccer Association member.
  • Past experience with various local community boards.
  • Plays roller hockey, ping pong and soccer with Island Rec and community programs.
  • Runner in the 8.8K Loop Run during the San Juan County Fair for many years.
  • Can communicate effectively with our Spanish speaking residents.

I would be proud to represent San Juan County as your Treasurer.
