You know of Molly O’Neil, the Computer Teacher and Gadget Gal? She’s teaching some classes on how to get the most from your iPhone and/or iPad. Here’s the official word from Molly…

Molly O’Neil is a certified teacher with endorsements to teach: Special Education, German, History and Social Studies (K-12). In her working experiences, Molly also acquired skills teaching computers and gadgets. With in-depth knowledge and enthusiasm, the Computer Teacher/Gadget Gal will increase your knowledge and confidence with your iPad/iPhone.

A quote from Dr. Judy Willis, Neurologist/Teacher shines light on Molly’s teaching style: The Neuroscience of Joyful Education

“Brain research tells us that when the fun stops, learning often stops too.

The Computer Teacher/Gadget Gal iPhone and iPad classes will be held at the Friday Harbor House conference room. In this relaxing setting students will be able to focus on their gadgets with less anxiety and distraction. Through humor and clear instruction, students will leave class confident and enthusiastic about their new gadget knowledge.

Instruction methods will be varied: lecture, Power Point presentation, visual directions directly from the iPhone or iPad, experiential learning and student sharing (“which we used to call cheating”). There will also be drawings for prizes.

Come on your own, or call your best friend, your mom and/or dad or work colleague and come to class together.

All ages are invited. Ms. O’Neil commented,

A high school student told me his smart phone kept turning off after 5 minutes and although only a year old was apparently broken. He went on to say that someone told him to check how many apps he had open. In the year he’d had the smart phone, he’d never closed an app – because he wasn’t taught to do so. Laughing, he told me there were over 300 apps open in the background. After he learned how to close them, the phone worked great.

Obviously, a student’s age does not determine how competent she or he is with their iPhone/iPad.

Come to class, have a blast and learn skills that will allow you to use more than just the phone and email features of your gadget.
