Happy Spring
Spring has arrived on San Juan Island and our annual visitors are already trickling in on the weekends and holidays. We are sure to be in for a very busy summer season and your Chamber of Commerce would like to offer any support that we can to our local business community. Please do not hesitate to stop in to chat with Becki and see if we can help make your season even better. Our visitors will be greeted in a “new and improved” Visitor Information Center where the renovation should be complete by mid-May. Our staff would love to help promote and recommend your business so if you have never been a member or used to be but left, keep us in mind as another promotion tool and voice for business. A successful business environment helps to create a better quality of life for all our community.

New Members
We would like to welcome some new members to the Chamber of Commerce who joined recently. Some new businesses and some familiar. We are happy to have them join in as part of our cohesive community of merchants. (My apologies if I forgot anybody. Please do let me know if I did!)

Fanfare… to any new business owners who want a little fanfare and celebration of your new venture, please feel free to contact the Chamber and we will arrange a public ribbon cutting to welcome you and your business to Friday Harbor.

A Place to Play and Herb’s Tavern
Our April Chamber Social took place at A Place To Play on Spring Street and was co-hosted by Herb’s Tavern who provided the snacks. A great big thank you to Cathy Kromer for hosting. She has created a magical place where children, accompanied by their parents, can be kids, use their imagination and play to their heart’s content. She hosts birthday parties too. Locals and visitors are all welcome. If you have not seen this adorable space, stop in to say hello to Cathy and find out all that she offers. Our island institution, Herb’s Tavern, is now owned by Chris and Jasmine Mason. The place looks fantastic and the food is great. They did an awesome job renovating the place inside and out. Music, pool, sports on tv, and of course, food & drink. Stop in to give them a try if you have not been to Herb’s in a while.

Chamber Members or prospective members, please join us on May 11 at Island Air for our next social.

Summer Fun
Be sure to put a few Chamber events on your summer calendars beginning with Hooray for Hollywood, our Fourth of July Parade honoring the 100th anniversary of the Palace Theater. The biggest, best fireworks show Friday Harbor has ever seen will happen that evening thanks to very generous donors and contributions from our community. Help us to create an amazing Independence Day this year by helping with our Fireworks Campaign. More information to follow.

The Summer Arts Fair will be a great one this year happening the weekend of July 11 & 12. We will not be sharing the weekend with other festivals this summer and the Friends of the Library will be joining us with their book fair on the same site. There is still room for a few more artists and our tourists would love to see as much local art as they can. Contact Becki at the Chamber if you would like to participate.

Until next month… Cheers!
