Um… What?

Umwelt: pron: /o͝omvelt/ the world as it is experienced by any one particular organism.

Liminal-currentsIMA’s first ever community collaboration designed and directed by Matthew Gray Palmer, provides an opportunity to embrace another way of seeing reality. As participants within this installation, we are invited to immerse ourselves in a space to experience empathy with underwater marine life.

Visitors are invited to help complete the project throughout the exhibition by writing your blessings, thoughts, and prayers on “ribbons” which will become part of the artwork. The installation officially opens on May 23. The community can watch the assembly as volunteers assist in the core construction.

Palmer is a sculptor dedicated to teaching natural science and conservation through public art. He has completed several projects with the National Park Service. To learn more about how to participate, please call Diane at 360-370-5814 or email her at diane[.]martindale[@]rockisland[.]com to explore the construction schedule.
