wolverine2Girls Tennis – Our Girls Tennis team will begin post season play on Thursday, May 14. They will be playing in the 1A/2B/1B District Tournament being held at South Whidbey High School. Matches start at 11:00. This year we have two singles entries, Ashton Timmons, and Yasmin Sarah.  Our girls will be trying to advance to the Tri-District Tournament being held the following week. Golf– Our Boys and Girls Golf Teams will also begin post season play on Thursday, May 14. The two teams will head to Gallery Golf Club in Oak Harbor for the 1B/2B District tournament. 6 boys & 2 girls will be competing from Friday Harbor, trying to move on to the Bi-District tournament the following week on Thursday, May 21, also at Gallery Golf club. Baseball – Our Baseball team has completed league play finishing 2nd overall and will travel to Stanwood High School this Saturday, May 16 for the 2B District Tournament. The Wolverines will enter the tournament as the #2 seed and will play Orcas the #3 seed at 12:00pm for the right to move on to the championship game which will follow at 2:00pm, also at Stanwood High School. Four teams, Concrete, Orcas, Friday Harbor, and La Conner will be playing to determine the one team from District 1 to move on to the State Regional Tournament being held the following weekend, Saturday, May 23 at various sites. Track – Our Boys and Girls Track teams will begin post season events next week on Wednesday, May 20 for the preliminary races and some final field events, and then again of Friday, May 22, for the finals of the District One 2B track meet. Both day’s events will be held at Civic Stadium in Bellingham. Wednesday’s events begin at 3:30, and Friday’s at 4:30. One boy athlete and one girl athlete from each event will qualify from this meet for the state meet the following week. Athletes from Concrete, La Conner, and Friday Harbor will be the schools competing at the District 1 meet. Fastpitch – The Lady Wolverines have also completed their league season play, and were co-league champions along with La Conner. The Wolverines will now travel to Stanwood High School on Thursday, May 21, to play in the District 1 2B tournament. Although the girls were co-league champions, they will be entering the tournament as the #2 seed based on a predetermined draw that was used to handle head to head ties for seeding. As a result, the Wolverines will play Darrington at 3:00 pm in Game 1, with the winner moving on to the championship game at 5:00pm. Like the Baseball District tournament, 4 teams, La Conner, Concrete, Darrington, and Friday Harbor will be playing to determine the 1 team to move on to the state Tournament the following week in Yakima.
