A note from San Juan Update editor emeritus Ian Byington:

Whoa! I can’t believe it! There are still a few spots open in the Write Doe Bay writers’ workshop over the weekend of May 29-31. Directed by San Juan Island’s Jennifer Beck Furber, Kerry Andrews, and Casey Sjogren, I’ve heard nothing but great (and inspiring!) things about the workshop. Here’s the official press release from Jenn:

Press Release:
Doe Bay Resort and Retreat on Orcas Island is known for its rustic charm, world-class farm-to-table café and its annual music festival, Doe Bay Fest. For the past two and a half years, something else has grown on the resort’s pristine 38-acres: a boutique writing workshop drawing first-class talent. Write Doe Bay unlocks narratives and opens creative paths, uniting artists of every genre along a common thread: the story of it all.

A few tickets remain to Write Doe Bay’s May 29-31 Spring Workshop.

JENNIE SHORTRIDGE is the author of five best-selling novels including Love Water Memory and When She Flew. In Shortridge’s workshop Healing through Storytelling, writers will explore and deepen themes of healing and hope in our own writing, not only for ourselves, but also for our readers.

Poet MATT GANO is author of Suits for the Swarm, a poetry collection from Moon Path Press (2013), and has been writing and teaching professionally since 2004. In Matt’s workshop Fresh Ground, writers will focus on expanding the boundaries of metaphor by manipulating “new” language, and making surprising connections by grounding the abstract in the physical world.

Life Coach and Intuitive Holistic Counselor YVONNE BRYGHT has been in private practice for more than twenty years whose diverse approach uses threads from theology, astrology, shamanism, mysticism and energy/group dynamics to bring the greatest possible healing and resolution to every piece of work and every client. Yvonne’s workshop Unblocking the Creative Genius will clear artistic blocks with a process that restores the flow of pure heart energy and manifest the artists’ deepest and truest intentions for their work or projects.

DANIEL BLUE is the Seattle-based singer-songwriter-guitarist of the band Motopony and awaits the release of the band’s LP Welcome You next month. Daniel’s workshop will support writers in their quest to reconnect with artistic rituals and transitions.

SHELBY EARL is a singer-songwriter of the albums Burn the Bridges and Swift Arrows. On Friday night at May 29 at 8 pm SHELBY EARL with special guest singer-songwriter WHITNEY LYMAN will perform in Doe Bay Resort’s famed Yoga Studio on Orcas Island.

A few tickets remain and are available via the Write website. For more information about the workshop or to purchase tickets please visit http://writedoebay.com.
