On Book Readers Theatre

San Juan Community Theatre’s FREE On Book Readers Theatre series returns after its summer break with a comedy from one ofAmerica’s most successful playwrights. Neil Simon’s Fools will be read by island actors THIS Thursday, October 1 at 7:30 pm in the Gubelman.
Set in the small village of Kulyenchikov, Ukraine during the late 19th century, the story follows a schoolteacher, Leon Steponovich Tolchinsky, who takes a new job educating the daughter of the village doctor. Leon soon learns that there is a curse on the village that makes everyone stupid, but complications ensue when Leon falls in love with his pupil.
The reading is directed by Joy Van Camp and features Daniel Finn, Fiona Small, Dorie Heeren, Candace Gossen, Carolyn Haugen, Marie Hart, Shannon Kelley, Keith Keyser, Deb Langhans and John Davis.
