On First Street, in front of Pelindaba and The Golden Triangle, the Town of Friday Harbor is installing a storm water vault under the sidewalk and a new LA style storm drain (curb opening rather than street grate).

These are in response to local business requests, as this is the low point for storm events that flow down Spring Street and come around the corner on to First. The curb opening will get more storm water off the street faster and the vault will provide additional capacity. You may remember the flash flood we had earlier this fall – the Town is hoping to avoid a repeat where businesses were flooded.
