One of the songs I almost always sing each new year is Both Sides, Now by Joni Mitchell…seems like a good time to share it, now, as you & I move into the wonderful chances for loving, sharing, and healing that are ours to embrace & make happen in the days ahead.

Dreams & schemes…let’s go!

+++++++++++++++

+++++++++++++++

Both Sides, Now
Joni Mitchell

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, I’ve looked at cloud that way.
But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone.
So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.

I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It’s cloud illusions i recall.
I really don’t know clouds at all.

Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real; i’ve looked at love that way.
But now it’s just another show. you leave ‘em laughing when you go
And if you care, don’t let them know, don’t give yourself away.

I’ve looked at love from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow
It’s love’s illusions i recall.
I really don’t know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud to say “I love you” right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I’ve looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say
I’ve changed.
Something’s lost but something’s gained in living every day.

I’ve looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall.
I really don’t know life at all.

You have a super chance to see this tonight at the Community Theatre – it’s the Friday Harbor premiere showing of Rob Michaan’s documentary ‘Cut Poison Burn.’ If cancer has touched your life, then this will help fill in some of the gaps in understanding you may have….

The show is at 7pm, with donations to the Food Bank accepted. Here’s more from Jane Buck, with the film’s trailer below:

Rob

Rob Michaan was a passionate soul. When he became aware of what he saw as the injustice, collusion and negative manipulation that was causing such great harm and heart wrenching distress to those of us in need of medical help, Rob took action in deed and with fortune to shed light on this darkness.

Rob became dedicated to the creation of a movie that would shed awareness about this diseased aspect of the healthcare industry. He knew that it was not enough to just complain to others about what he saw. Rob’s compassion for freedom and his distain for the arrogance of over-reaching American “revolving door” political power and greed, compelled him to financially support and be directly involved with birthing this movie called ‘Cut Poison Burn’.

Rob’s calling resulted in the cooperation of playwright Louis Peter Cimino, Emmy award winning director Wayne Chesler, accomplished actor, author, director and narrator, Peter Coyote, and the plight of Donna and Jim Navarro and their son, Thomas.

This documentary is a chronicle of the journey through the history of cancer treatment, and the politics of who has a right to use available methods and who doesn’t. The film takes no sides; it simply reveals the facts of what is legal and what is not, what has worked and what has failed, and investigates the money trail connected to each.

This is a film that could save your life, the life of a loved one and hopefully many lives.

DVD Pre-orders available from nehst.com
Ships August 1st. Item#:cutpoisonburndvd
