Robert Alan Felthous, age 87, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at his home in Stanwood, Washington. His loving wife was by his side. Born on September 22, 1920 in St. Paul Minnesota, Bob was the younger of two boys. During the depression his family moved to Portland, Oregon and after a few years to Seattle, Washington where he graduated from Roosevelt High School. While attending the University of Washington he was enrolled in ROTC and not long after graduating Bob married his sweetheart Agnetta. During World War II, Bob, a lieutenant in the Navy, was stationed aboard an air craft carrier and served as a Supply Corps Officer. After serving his country and earning his law degree from the University of San Francisco, Bob and Agnetta decided to settle in Selah, Washington in 1947. This is where they raised their family and lived for 25 years. It was there in Yakima County where Bob established his own law firm. The firm expanded to become known as Felthous, Brachtenbach and Peters. Bob served as President of the Yakima County Bar Association and for many years as a Washington State Bar Examiner. He was on the board of the Yakima YMCA and the Yakima Memorial Hospital and also served as a Washington State Aeronautics Commissioner. In 1975 after a three year term as a state administrative law judge in Olympia, Bob and Agnetta retired to Friday Harbor, Washington. They spent almost 30 years on San Juan Island before relocating to Warm Beach Senior Community in Stanwood, Washington. Bob had many interests, among his greatest was being with family and friends. He was a caring and compassionate man who always conducted his life with strength, character and integrity. He shared his infectious humor and enthusiasm through his hobbies as a SCUBA instructor, private pilot, Boy Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher, volunteer firefighter, and through camping, boating, making homemade bread, or wood working. Bob’s obvious love of people attracted individuals from all walks of life. Bob has said that his faith and loving family have always been his grounding point. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Agnetta, and his three children: son Dr. Alan Felthous and his wife Mary of St. Louis, Missouri, daughter Linda Felthous of Stanwood, Washington and son Dean Felthous of Everett, Washington. He also has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside gathering at 1pm, on Tuesday, December 4th at the San Juan Island Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at the Friday Harbor Presbyterian at 2pm. Refreshments will follow. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Providence General Foundation’s, PEMC Capital Expansion Fund, Cancer Center Fund or Hospice House Fund. P.O. Box 1067, Everett, Washington 98206.
