Sports updates….

Youth soccer got underway this past weekend, with some 200 kids at the elementary school...the youth football games were played away last weekend as they started their seasons, too!

FHHS football kept the game within striking distance last Saturday, allowing a first half Orcas score to only trail 7-0 at the half (with a couple of key Don Galt picks in the end zone to keep the Vikings out), but Orcas ground it out in the second half, adding a couple of scores to win 21-6. Micah Powell’s fake punt run for a score gave the Wolverines a chance, but Orcas scored late to put it out of reach. Next up: at Meridian, this Friday.

• It was a tough one – the Wolverine girls lost 1-0 at Port Townsend in soccer on Saturday. They’re back in action at 5 today at Orcas.
