Checking in, around San Juan….

"Here's looking at you!" - photographer John Miller and a fox stare each other down last week (thanks for the photo, John!)

Let’s see what’s going on:

• First of all, you need to know: The statute of limitations is up for using the power outage Thursday night/Friday morning as an excuse.

Everybody understood on Friday when you were late for work, and over the weekend, no one looks at a clock anyway. But it’s Tuesday now, so if you’re still using it as the reason your report isn’t done or that you slept in, that’s pretty lame.

Even if your clock is still flashing because you haven’t reset it yet.

Mine is. 🙂

• Have you looked at the weather lately? The weather forecast for this weekend looks pretty nice – hope the forecast holds! (Some other weather folks say it may even get into the 70s…wahoo!)

It was great to get a chance to visit with Clark & Shelly at the Whale Museum fundraiser the other day....

• Do you think about turning off Facebook & e-mail & your smartphone & (gasp!) The Update, just to hear what your own heart is telling you? Here’s an essay & story by someone who found the benefits of disconnecting in a too-connected world. See what you think.

• Cindy Gutierrez (378-4298) and friends are hosting a spaghetti feed, raffle & silent auction for Carmen Dixon on Sunday the 5th at the Legion (below) from 2-5pm. She says Carmen’s cancer is back and she’ll be undergoing a double mastectomy. The raffle includes a staycation at Roche Harbor Resort (includes a one night stay in a luxury suite, a Signature Massage at Afterglow Spa, and dinner for two at McMillin’s Dining Room.) See you there – and good luck, Carmen!

• The Marathon is this weekend! Just sayin’….

The sunset burns in the window....
