Keith & Don

Extreme Guitar Duo at SJCT Friday, October 19

American Keith Knight and Canadian Don Alder, also known as Extreme Guitar Duo, join guitar forces for a high-energy concert on San Juan Community Theatre’s Whittier stage Friday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Alder combines fingerpicking with simultaneous percussion on the soundboard while Knight showcases his versatility on a wide range of guitars and mandolin.  Their acoustic collaboration covers a variety of music genres, from modern fingerstyle guitar to tapping, Appalachian, delta/ragtime blues and calypso.

Alder, who is also a singer and recording artist, has won several guitar competitions, including the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship; he has also appeared on Canada’s Got Talent.

Guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist Knight has shared the stage with such musicians as The Smothers Brothers and Melanie.

In addition to their evening performance, the duo will present a guitar demonstration to high school guitar students, thanks to a generous grant from the San Juan Island Community Foundation.  The workshop is 2:00 p.m. on October 19 at the Theatre.  Interested students may call 378-3211, ext. 23 for more information.

The Business Partner for this performance is BEST WESTERN PLUS Friday Harbor Suites.  Tickets are $24 for adults and $12 for student reserved.  $5 Student RUSH will be available at the door.  A private donor has made provision for free tickets to anyone needing financial assistance to attend a Theatre event.

The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesdays-Fridays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and one hour before any performance.  Call 360-378-3210, or surf to www.sjctheatre.org.
