wolverine2FHHS Athletic Director Rod Turnbull shares this letter with you…

We are just beginning the winter portion of our post season events. Wrestling got a jump start on all of us and had a great showing this past weekend at Darrington (boys) and Burlington (girls). Below is an update on the post season opportunities for our winter sports teams.

  • Wrestling – Our boys and girls wrestling team has just completed the sub regional portion of their season. The girls competed this past Friday and Saturday at Burlington high school. Sara Rist and Haley Pyle earned the right to move on to this weekend’s Regional Girls tournament being held at Bellingham high school. Our boys competed on Saturday, at Darrington high school. 9 boys will be advancing to the Regional tournament this Saturday, February 14, at Adna High School. A special congratulations goes out to James Guard and Dakota Brown, as each will be advancing as District champions at their weight class. Visit our league website, for more information.
  • Girls Basketball – With one regular season game left to play, our girls Bi-District playoff seeding is set. The girls will enter the Bi-District tournament as the #3 seed and will be playing their first round game at Orcas on February 18, at 4:00. Win or lose, the girls will be playing again on Friday, February 20 at Sedro Woolley High School. At the Bi-District Tournament, our girls will be playing to become one of two teams that advance to the Regional State Playoffs the following weekend. The Bi-District bracket is posted at this link. Use the girls basketball tab to access the playoff information.
  • Boys Basketball – Like our girls, with one regular season game left to play, our boys Bi-District seeding is also set. The boys will enter the first round of the Bi-District Tournament as the #2 seed and will be hosting a first round game on Tuesday, February 17 at 5:00pm. The opponent is still to be determined at this time, but would be either Concrete, Orcas, or Auburn Adventist. Win or lose, the boys will play again on February 19, at Sedro Woolley. Like the girls, the boys will also be playing to become one of two teams that advance to the Regional State Playoffs the following weekend. The Bi-District bracket is posted at this link. Use the boys basketball tab to access the playoff information.
