The Studio of San Juan Island celebrates fourteen successful months of business with scores of regular clientele, a reputation for diverse and engaging classes with a commitment to the coordination of body, mind and spirit. Partners Jennifer Horn and Jacquelyn Reiff with instructor Sharalyn Lehman provide challenging and strengthening programs using core-centric principles of vigor and control to foster leaner, stronger, more flexible and well-balanced bodies, regardless of either frame or age.

2015 began with The Studio’s triad of Jennifer Horn, Jacquelyn Reiff and Sharalyn Lehman supporting a diverse group of island women in Whole 30 Booty Camp. With a balance of exercise and nutrition, campers achieved deeper muscle activation, body balance and mindfulness through a variety of class offerings resulting in an evenly conditioned body.

The Whole 30 philosophy is less diet or cleanse and more a short-term nutritional reset which restores a healthy metabolism, heals digestive tracts, and balances immune systems. The program ceases unhealthy cravings and habits, particularly for sugar, dairy, grains, legumes, and carbohydrates. Part nutritional coach, part lifestyles advocate, Horn curated wellness support for the Booty Campers rich in ritual and routine while she celebrated the group’s willingness to make conscious, life-giving choices. The Studio nurtured a supportive community through mid-Sunday morning meetings on recipes, food preparations, and with journaling’s engaging and thought provoking prompts. This tight-knit group gained insight into their own emotional intelligence and physical awareness which lead to the whole body transformation for each Booty Camper.

The Studio’s Booty Camp success was measured through body composition analysis, before and after the program. Studio Boot Campers lost a total of 124.5 pounds, while their average metabolic age went down by 11 years. Overall, participants lost 82.5 total inches, while the average body fat percentatge went down by 5%. The psychological benefits of The Whole 30 Booty Camp may be even more dramatic.

Through the program, participants changed long-standing unhealthy habits and self-perceptions. Jennifer Herda found strength in numbers, slept better, had more energy during the day, and LOVED the way [her] body responded to the program. Islander Boo Boo James attributes her completion to the handholding, words of encouragement with daily affirmations and guidance and hope along the journey. Sara Jensen was diagnosed with a degenerative spinal disease and after surgery with a long recovery; she slipped into a deep depression. After attempting multiple programs with minimal strength gain and success, Jensen welcomed Pilates into her days. Pilates is sneaky says Jensen. Pilates makes muscles you didn’t know you had and then there you are – feeling great about yourself, says Sara Jensen. Rebecca Clark attributes meeting her personal health goals and overall state of wellbeing to the dream team of The Studio.

Jen Horn is a knowledgeable leader who is creative, loving and supportive while Jackie Reiff raises the bar to allow my inner warrior to take over. Sharalyn, says Rebecca, is a light-hearted natural instructor who brought so much fun to working out. I am thankful to San Juan Island’s The Studio for the internal overhaul of body and mind.

The Studio of San Juan Island is harvesting physical and emotional change within its clientele. Through certified, small group instruction and support, Whole 30 Booty Camp graduates continue to proclaim higher energy levels, mental clarity, better sleep, improved athletic performance, and heightened dispositions.

The Studio is located at 278 A Street in downtown Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. For a schedule of classes, or to learn more about The Studio co-owners Horn and Reiff and instructor Lehman, visit thestudiosji.com or call 360-378-0150.
