Dear Editor,
My wife Susan and I will be voting in the Hospital District #1 elections on November 3 for Barbara Sharp for position #2, Monica Harrington for position #3, and Bill Williams for position #5. If you live in Hospital District #1, including San Juan Island, we encourage you to vote the same.
Barbara, Bill, and Monica recognize that Peace Island Medical Center is a valuable asset to our community and are thankful for its existence. But unlike their opponents, they want to make it better by expanding services, including those required by the State’s Reproductive Privacy Act and Death With Dignity Act. They are also committed to obtaining approval of the renewal of the existing emergency services (EMS) levy in November 2016, without which EMS on San Juan Island would cease to exist in its present form.
Unlike their opponents, Barbara, Bill, and Monica are pro choice, support Planned Parenthood, and believe that taxpayer dollars passed through to Peace Island Medical Center (PIMC) should not be subject to the restrictions of the Catholic Church, as is the case today with regard to women’s reproductive rights and death with dignity. If elected, the three will work to remove these restrictions or, alternatively, identify other providers of these services to be supported with our tax dollars.
Barbara, Bill, and Monica are the best qualified of the candidates, with strong professional and business skills that would greatly benefit the District in effectively managing our tax dollars.
Please vote for Barbara, Bill, and Monica.
