Everett Clary for the Hospital District Levy

Dear Editor,

This year, we, the voters of San Juan Island, will have an opportunity to do something about the ongoing and deepening problem of long term care on our island. The problem is multifaceted and so is the proposed beginning to a solution. It involves finding, training and retaining good people and a home base where all this can take place as well as the funding to help make it possible.

The Public Hospital District #1 has put forth a detailed plan (that includes the proposed budgets for the next six years) to start addressing this problem. This plan is dependent upon the funding from the proposed levy (SJC PHD#1, Prop 1).

If we vote “Yes” for the levy we are voting to move forward and to try to do something about a very large and real problem. If we vote “No”, at best we will have more of what we have now and at worst health care workers will not be available at any price to care for us at home and there may not even be a “place” on the island when we are not able to live at home.

Be part of your community, vote “Yes” on: SJC Public Hospital District #1, Proposition No.1, Authorizing Property Tax Levy

Everett Clary
22 year island resident
PHD#1 commissioner
