John and Emily Geyman for Victoria Compton

We strongly support Victoria Compton for Commissioner of the Port of Friday Harbor.

She has been an islander for over 30 years with a strong commitment to our community. Airplanes and sailboats were part of her family trips to the islands in the 1970s. In her current position as Director of the County’s Economic Development Council, she has demonstrated creativity and the ability to implement projects of benefit to small businesses and is knowledgeable about our island’s economic situation.

Victoria emphasizes the need for the Port, with community collaboration, to develop a vision to create long-term resilience and environmental and economic sustainability that fits our island way of life. She will focus on creating family-wage jobs for islanders in any new projects.

In addition to the above attributes, Victoria has a strong personal work ethic and has shown the ability to work with others to “get things done.”
