Fiona Noris from the San Juan Nature Institute announces:

Friday Harbor Elementary School Supports Young Naturalists: The Student Council at Friday Harbor Elementary School organized a fundraising drive to support San Juan Nature Institute’s Young Naturalist Classes. They sold environmentally friendly aluminum water bottles and raised more than $1,000. At the awards ceremony this morning (Tuesday) they presented a check to Fiona Norris, Science Director,  with a request that the money be used to provide scholarships for students to attend Young Naturalist Classes this summer.

The program starts on Monday so if any young person wants to join a class on Seeds and Fruits (5-7 year olds) or Explore Tidepools please call 378-3646  to see if your child qualifies.  The classes are kept small so everyone gets a chance to interact with the instructor. Explore Tidepools June 22   (9:30-noon) is for 8-12 year olds. Seeds and Fruits class for 5—7 year olds takes place from 1-3:30 on Monday June 22. For a full timetable of classes please see www.sjnature.org. Parents or friends will be asked to deliver and collect the child after the class.  If any parent wishes to volunteer as the second adult at the class please let Fiona know.

San Juan Nature Institute is extremely grateful to the students of FHES for this amazing, generous donation. They are an inspiration.
