NOAA's Dawn Noren reviews her research about vessel effects on the killer whales tonight....

The Whale Museum’s 2009 Lecture Series continues on Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:00 pm with Dawn Noren, PhD from NOAA NMFS Northwest Fisheries Science Center. Noren will be discussing her study on ‘Behavioral and Bioenergetic Impacts of Vessel Presence in Southern Resident Killer Whales’.
Dawn Noren joined the Northwest Fisheries Science Center in May of 2003. Previously, she was a National Research Council (NRC) Postdoctoral Research Associate with the National Marine Mammal Laboratory at the NOAA NMFS Alaska Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, where she conducted research on Steller sea lion juvenile body condition, fasting physiology, and diving. Dawn received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland and received both an M.S. in Marine Sciences and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
