I’m telling you about this now so you can sign up early, dive fans – here’s more from Peggy at Naknek Charters and Diving:
Naknek Charters and Diving and SeaDoc Society Presents
REEF Fish ID Weekend
Join us for a fun filled weekend in the beautiful San Juan Islands and learn how to identify over 40 basic Pacific NW fish. Janna Nichols of Pacific Northwest Scuba and REEFs will be our guest instructor. She will be teaching how to identify some of the more common San Juan Islands fish and invertebrates. The weekend event will be held at beautiful Roche Harbor Resort, on San Juan Island, and will also include a two tank boat dive with Naknek Charters and Diving.
The three day event will be held Oct 23-25, 2009 and will be co-sponsored by SeaDoc Society, a local marine science organization based on Orcas Island. A quote from their web-site “The SeaDoc Society works to protect the health of marine wildlife and their ecosystems through science and education”. SeaDoc Society encourages divers to perform fish counts while diving in local waters in order to track the vitality of different species. This event will help divers identify and correctly track sea life. However, fish counts are not required to take part in this weekend, you can just come to have fun and learn.
For more information and pricing on this exciting weekend, please contact Kurt or Peggy Long at Naknek Charters, 360-378-9297.
