Jenny from the Whale Museum sent me this so you & I can get it on our calendars…here’s the scoop:
The Whale Museum will present the Friday Harbor premiere of “Saving Luna,” the world-acclaimed documentary covering the life of Luna, a young lone orca who made a home in Nootka Sound, eagerly seeking the company of humans and redefining the nature of friendship and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. The award-winning documentary by Suzanne Chisholm and Michael Parfit covers the three-year story with breathtaking cinematography, focusing on the web of life and our interconnectedness with this compelling biography of a young whale reaching beyond his world to ours.
The Friday Harbor Premiere event will be held at the San Juan Community Theatre as a fundraiser for The Whale Museum’s Soundwatch Boater Education program. A ‘Meet the Producers’ reception kicks off the evening at 6:00 pm. The reception will also feature hors d’oeuvres created by Chef Madden Surbaugh of Steps Wine Bar & Cafe.
The film will begin at 7:00 pm on Sept 10th followed by a conversation with the producers and individuals who participated in the Luna Stewardship Program. Ticket prices are $45 for the reception and film or $20 for the film only.
