Ann’s retirement…

Since she came to the island in 2005 to take over as principal at Friday Harbor Middle School (when 14 year veteran principal Court Bell retired), Ann Spratt has proven to be the steady hand on the wheel that a district undergoing change needs. Her much-needed mix of humor, experience, and administrative moxie helped oversee the move of the sixth graders to the elementary school as well as keep a good thing going at FHMS in spite of deep (and if you ask me, rotten) budget cuts.
Gonna miss having her around – here’s more about what’s planned from Maude at the School District:
Just a note to highlight the fact that tonight’s School Board meeting will begin (at 5:30) with a Special Session to formally acknowledge Ann Spratt’s retirement. We will have treats and coffee and will make a special presentation. All are welcome to join us! Ann has been an important part of our school family for the last 5 years and we will truly miss her.
We will also be “Swearing in” Deborah Nolan and Brent Snow as new board members. They each bring special talents and viewpoints that will help guide us through the next four years. Welcome Deb and Brent!
