Saint David’s Day School
A Kindergarten Enrichment Program

The recent renovation and expansion of Saint David’s Episcopal Church has made it possible to offer a new educational program serving San Juan Island families with Kindergarten students. Beginning in January, this afternoon program is designed to supplement the public morning Kindergarten at Friday Harbor Elementary School.

– Opening day will be January 4, 2010
– Hours of operation are from 11:15-3:00 p.m.
– Enrollment is for children who are currently enrolled in the morning Kindergarten program at Friday Harbor Elementary school.
– Two certified teachers, Margaret Barker and Carmen Tompkins, with a combined 47 years of preschool and Kindergarten teaching experience.

Head Teacher Margaret Barker has twenty years of experience teaching Kindergarten at The Lexington School, a highly regarded a private school in Lexington, KY, and fourteen years additional experience at the preschool level. Mrs. Barker has attended many national Kindergarten and educational conferences and has been a presenter at local, state and national NAEYC conferences (National Association for the Education of Young Children).  She is excited about this new opportunity to help the children of San Juan Island enhance and build upon the skills they are acquiring in the morning programs at the Friday Harbor Elementary School.

Assisting Teacher Carmen Tompkins has thirteen years teaching experience, including ten years as Head Teacher at the Lighthouse Preschool in Friday Harbor.

Classes will consist of additional activities in language, math, handwriting, science and music all taught in a thematic approach.  The school will use The Project Approach
method in some of its monthly themes.
Class size is limited to 12 students.

For information and brochure please contact Margaret Barker at 378-9474.
