Harry Manx!

My good friend Ryan Browne was sending this note around to folks to tell us what a good idea tonight’s show is. Harry Manx is the real deal…hope you can work it in. Here’s more from Ryan:
-‘Anne and Barbara’
“It won’t be long before Manx outgrows smaller, more intimate venues in the States.”
-CT Folk
Hello to everyone! I’m sending out a mass email on the behalf of the Community Theatre and myself to encourage everyone to check out Harry Manx tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7:30, at the Theatre. I’ll start by saying I wouldn’t be sending out an email like this unless I was really stoked on this guy. Oddly enough, it can be very hard to advertise and encourage shows here on the Island, whether it’s general interest, prices, or lack of exposure that gets us short on attendance.
Personally, I think the main reason probably has to do with interest and enthusiasm. People excited about a performance are going to attend, hands down. So instead of taking my word for it, or going ‘just to go’, please check this guy out yourself!
And that really goes for any sort of music here in the future
Half the people I have spoken with have said they are not willing to pay $25.00 for a ticket. That price can seem high when going on a whim, but I think many people would think differently once they heard Manx’s stuff, not to mention any of the other incredible music the Theatre brings to us. It is a lot of work, and big financial risk to bring new artists here, as you never know how the public is going to respond. One of best performance’s I have ever seen was Zubot & Dawson here, some years ago. Those who saw them were equally floored, but attendance was poor. When the Theatre ends up losing money on a show, it can make it very hard to bring artists back, regardless of their performance…
So please, check out the links below, and decide for yourself. Tickets are $25.00 for adults, and $12.00 for students. Students, you only pay $5.00 (RUSH) if you show up at the door at showtime. This is an incredibly reasonable price!!! I payed twice as much when I saw him before, and it was in a local grange with plastic seats and barn-like acoustics. To host the Canadian Acoustic Blues Artist of the Year (3 years in a row! plus, Canada is HUGE) in such an intimate setting will be a real treat. Attendance is REALLY important to us for any performance, and as of this afternoon we only have 75 tickets sold… So PLEASE, SPREAD THE WORD, and don’t miss this performance!
And if there are artists here in the future you might not recognize, then please, look them up!!! It just takes a few seconds online, and then you can decide for yourself if it is worth seeing. We definitely owe that to the Theatre, and everyone that works so hard to bring music up here for US! And thanks so much to everyone who continues to support island music, it means a lot!
Please forward this to anyone you think might be interested. Love to everyone,
Ryan Browne
