Soccer association seeks CD…here’s more
Posted March 13, 2011 at 10:05 pm by Ian Byington
Just got this note from Travis, the president of the island’s youth soccer association, who says they have a coaching director job open, and also need a few good coaches for the fall season….here’s more:
I know soccer season seems like a long way away, but we have important news. Feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be interested.
1.) We want to establish a paid Coaching Director position for the fall season. See below.
2.) The U18 Boys team is without a coach. Please help us find someone to ensure these young men can play in the fall. The time commitment at this age can be quite manageable.
3.) We could also benefit from additional coaches for U12, U13, and U14 girls. Please write me at Ayers.Travis (at) gmail (dot) com if you think you can help, even in a limited fashion.
Sincerely,
Travis Ayers, President, San Juan Island Soccer

San Juan Island Soccer Seeks Coaching Director
The SJI Soccer Board is planning to hire a Coaching Director (CD) for the 2011 fall season. While not guaranteed, it is our desire to have the successful applicant in this job for several years.
The overall goal is to provide a consistent coaching methodology from U6 through U16. The CD will work with the Soccer Board to develop a comprehensive program that will:
Provide strategic and tactical instruction to new and existing coaches
Ensure consistent player development across age groups and genders
Give feedback and support to coaches throughout the season
The CD will need to commit approximately 10-15 hours per week for 10-12 weeks before and during the soccer season, including many Saturdays. Through generous donations this will be a paid position. Compensation will depend on experience and coaching certification(s), or the ability to obtain certification. Information on certification can be found at:
http://www.wsysa.com/TechnicalZoneMenu/CoachingEducation/StateNationalCourseDescriptions/tabid/1553/language/en-US/Default.aspx.
At a minimum, a background check will be required prior to beginning work.
Interested candidates should send a resume and a brief outline of their ideas and plans for the fall season to [email protected]. Interviews will take place beginning in April.
You can support the San Juan Update by doing business with our loyal advertisers, and by making a one-time contribution or a recurring donation.
