Don’t want to miss this one – here’s more from Jan Bollwinkel-Smith at the Community Theatre:

High School Takes on Little Women

Friday Harbor High School students meet the challenge of character development as they bring the joys and hardships of the inseparable March sisters to life on the Whittier stage this Thursday through Sunday, January 12-15.

Director Bristol Whalen says she chose to present the classic story set during the Civil War in part because it is inspiring and takes a real look at the value of family.  Centering on outspoken Jo, motherly Meg, quiet Beth and worldly Amy as they wrestle with the problems of poverty and everyday life and wait for their father to return from the war, the play holds many messages that still ring true more than a century later.

“While there is some unbelievable humor, the play will ask the actors to dig deep and play serious roles,” said Whalen.  “I wanted to do more character-driven plays at the high school.”

The business partner for this performance is Kings Market.  Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for student reserved.  $5 Student RUSH will be available at the door.

The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesdays-Fridays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and one hour before any performance.  Call 360-378-3210, or surf to www.sjctheatre.org.
