“Welcome aboard the Washington State Ferries. May I have your attention please…”

As of Wednesday, June 13, the Save-A-Spot vehicle reservation system will expand to include business and commercial customers for the Anacortes/San Juan Islands ferry runs.

Hugely successful when it was test driven on June 4th on the Anacortes/Sidney B.C. run, the Save-A-Spot system is spreading quickly throughout other ferry routes such as Port Townsend/Coupeville, which will soon take reservations for all vehicles.

An addition of benefits starting on the 17th will include a deposit for missed reservations which can be applied to same day, same departing terminal rides, in addition to barcoded ticket confirmations, which will decrease our ticket booth time as we race the tourists for a spot on the boat.

Happy sailing!

  1. Having participated in the on-board interisland ferry meeting with WSF management, I am amazed at some of the specifics stated in your linked FAQs. We were told that the whole reservation system for the San Juans was just BEGINNING the conversation about what might be the specifics for the various San Juan routes and that only the existing commercial reservation system would be moving to the “new improved” system. (Which by the way has already broken down for the Port Townsend run)
