Around the island…..

The weather’s changes were apparent in the cloud cover on Monday afternoon, over the Port of Friday Harbor when Josie & I took a walk….I love the Seattle weatherguy’s forecast: Partly cloudy with some clearing & scattered showers. Kinda covers it. (Click on the photo to enbiggen it….. 🙂

Lots of things going on this Halloween morning…check it out:

• You went to see Argo at the movies (it plays two more days – tonight & Thursday – I thought it was really well done)…did you know that two of the six hostages that escaped live in Anacortes? And they’re still there….here’s the scoop. (Don’t miss it!)

+++++

• I heard that the reading of Frankenstein at the Community Theatre was great fun over the weekend…they’re doing it again tonight at 7:30pm. The people who ssaw it said it was great, including Betsy Wingren:

The Reader’s Theatre production of Frankenstein was very entertaining.  It’s got great acting, a spooky set, costumes, and blocking–not as “bare bones” as one might expect for Reader’s Theatre.  It’s not a kid’s show, but a wonderful offering for adults.  Did anyone mention that it’s free-of-cost?  (although contributions are accepted…)

+++++++

The island misses Jim Cumming, who passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Friday…gonna miss his smile & giving spirit. I’ll post more lore later, as it comes in….

• County Republican Party Chair Michelle Loftus tells me there are three showings:

The Friday Harbor Palace Theater will present the movie “2016 Obama’s America” for three show times on Sunday, November 4. The theater has brought in new digital equipment for this movie. Call 360-370-5666 or 360-378-3578 for show times.

• Jennifer Allen at the Fairgrounds tells me there’s a show tonight:

The Good Husbands will be playing Halloween night at the SJC Fairgrounds.  The venue is for all ages, $10.00 cover at the door, doors open at 8:00pm, music to start at 8:30pm.

Just in time for Halloween….I’m sure glad that The Bean has that camera on the ferry coming & going, so you don’t have to rush (or maybe you do!) to catch the next boat. On Sunday, this spider swung by, across the camera lens…the spider (outside) was gone in five minutes….photo by Update Wildlife Photographer Josie Byington.

Jandira

• Jandira has a special presentation this Friday:

Friday, November 2 at 6:30 pm
Introduction to Akashic Records
San Juan Island Library meeting room, free.

Jandira Shelley, an Akashic Records consultant who was trained by Akashic Records International, explains “the Akashic Records, a living, ever-expanding energy field, collects and records each individual soul’s journey from inception forward to current life and into the projected future. The Akashic Records constantly up-date and record every thought, word, emotion and deed generated by our life experiences.

If your passion is to delve within the inner recesses of your soul to discover previously unknown aspects about yourself, then learning about what it means to ‘open’ to the insight and sacred wisdom of your Akashic Records could be the next step in your spiritual evolution.”

During this program, Jandira Shelley will define the Akashic Records and describe how she has used the Records to inform her daily decisions, discover and release self-sabotaging patterns, and free herself of fears, insecurities and judgments.  Volunteers from the audience will participate in demonstrating an actual Akashic Records group reading. Registration is encouraged: 378-2798.

As you can see, the construction next to Printonyx (they’re still open, by the way!) is coming along nicely. Photo by Jeff….
