Friday Harbor Sailing Club (FHSC) finished their 2012 year by again co-hosting Round the County Race with Orcas Island Yacht Club in November and holding their popular December Christmas Dinner meeting at Friday Harbor Masonic Hall where race trophies were awarded to winning members. Outgoing Commodore Terry Lush also inducted the 2013 club officers, including Commodore Rebecca Hughes.
“Shaw Island Winter Classic” is an annual sailboat race that begins and ends near Orcas Island Landing. This year, it will be held on Sunday, February 17 and is sponsored by Orcas Hotel, West Sound Marina and Orcas Island Yacht Club. Friday Harbor Sailing Club is a friendly group of both sail and power boat enthusiasts who organize, promote and encourage amateur sailing, sailboat racing and power boat activities. They have races, cruises, social and educational meetings for members and guests. Monthly meetings with potluck dinners begin at 5:45 PM on second Tuesdays at Friday Harbor Grange Hall overlooking Port of Friday Harbor except when picnic meetings are held in summer on the beach at Mitchell Bay.
