Dining for Scholars is Tomorrow (Thursday)

Whoa – time is getting short! This is coming up a whole lot like TOMORROW. Here’s a note from Michele Mayer:
I am very excited about this year’s Dining for Scholars event. We have changed it up a bit and this year we have invited a variety of restaurants and cafés around town to join in on an effort to fundraise for this amazing program on one night, March 28th. As usual, our local businesses stepped up! So you can help the establishments help us by simply eating out throughout the day.
From your morning mocha to your evening meal there are plenty of restaurants who have generously agreed to take part. For a complete list of participating restaurants click here. Please help us make this a successful event and eat out throughout the day on Thursday!
Here is a bit more information about the Dollars for Scholars program: Since 2001 the San Juan Island Dollars for Scholars chapter has been awarding scholarships to San Juan Island youth in recognition of their community service. Thursday, March 28th, many restaurants join Dollars for Scholars in supporting our mission of growing volunteering in our community and supporting higher education.
Students volunteer their time to local non-profit and community organizations. They must complete a minimum of 80 hours of service and can start as early as 8th grade and work towards this objective through their senior year. Scholarships are awarded based on community service provided, not grades, allowing every student to earn a scholarship based on efforts not academics.
