Classical Night Music

Two master island musicians share classical styles during San Juan Community Theatre’s Night Music Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 19.
From Bach to Bossa brings together cellist Sasha von Dassow and pianist Sonja Zarek, (both wowed the audience in this spring’s More Melodious Notes Over the Harbor concert) as they play together inside the intimate Gubelman Theatre.
Von Dassow recently returned to the Northwest after 22 years in Florida where he was a member of the cello section of the Florida Orchestra and was music director and conductor of the North Port Symphony. Zarek has provided musical direction in several SJCT productions, played piano in many island classical concerts and was an accompanist to violinist Andor Toth, founder of Chamber Music San Juans.
The Night Music series continues weekly through August 8, with a variety of musical styles showcased. The live music starts at 8:00 p.m., with a social hour in the Steele Memorial Garden (complete with special chocolate desserts, wine and beer available for purchase) from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Each evening is limited to 70 guests; all tickets are $10 each per concert.
The Business Partner for the series is Islanders Bank. The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesdays-Fridays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and one hour before any performance. Call 360-378-3210, or surf to www.sjctheatre.org.
