Here’s a letter from Shaun Hubbard about the open public comment period for the rebuilding of the Spring Street Landing building...

Dear Editor,
I’m hoping that you will post the pdf link (below) to the “Waterfront Planning and Design” document from the Port of Friday Harbor, in addition to posting some photos and information on what the Port is calling the “Final Schematic Design” of the building and surrounding areas to be constructed along the waterfront.
In light of the brouhaha that erupted from the Customs relocation, and the loud complaint that the citizens didn’t feel notified, I think it would well serve the Port and the well-being of the community if the public gets another chance to chime in on the proposed design before it’s too late. The waterfront is the front door to our island and I feel that the community needs to have every opportunity to have a say in its design. I’m not sure that the invitation to contribute has been broadcast as widely as it should be. The wounds being still fresh from the Customs building controversy, it would be good to avoid another “surprise” situation.
Comment form to the Port:
Another timely reminder:
The Town of Friday Harbor is asking the community to participate in a Sunshine Alley design workshop on Feb 26. All are invited, but need to register to attend.

Thank you!
