San Juan Island has again been named as one of the “Top 10 Islands – United States” by TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice™ awards, garnering the number four spot for 2014. This is the second year in a row that the island has received a “Top 10 Islands” award.
The Travelers’ Choice awards honor top travel spots worldwide based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers. Award winners were determined based on the popularity of islands in the United States, taking into account travelers’ favorite and most highly rated places.
“When you consider we are judged against many alluring islands – including the Hawaiian Islands – to again come out in one of the top spots shows that visitors treasure the islands’ many wildlife viewing and outdoor activities; our cultural, agricultural and historical attractions; as well as shops, lodging and dining opportunities. While TripAdvisor must single out one island for this award, it is really a powerful reflection on all of the San Juan Islands,” said Barbara Marrett, communications manager for the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau.
“There is something transporting about an island vacation, and these Travelers’ Choice island winners will help travelers find their next escape,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “From the world famous to the hidden gems, these impressive island destinations offer something unique for every traveler type to help them plan their next perfect trip. This is a great honor for the local tourism industry.”
