San Juan County Initiates the Lopez Village Subarea Plan Project
Notice of Public Meeting
San Juan County is pleased to announce the appointment of the Lopez Village Planning and Review Committee and initiation of the Lopez Village Subarea planning process. Committee members include Annie Albritton, Sandy Bishop, Daniel Drahn, Nancy Greene, Madrona Murphy, Dennis Ryan and
Barbara Thomas.
The Committee will meet with Councilman Jamie Stephens and San Juan County Community Development & Planning Department staff on Friday, June 27, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Lopez Library. The library is located at 2225 Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez Island. Officers will be elected and other organizational business will be conducted at the meeting. The public is welcome to attend. A public comment period will be included on all regular Committee meeting agendas.
The Committee will work to complete a draft Subarea Plan for the Lopez Village Urban Growth Area. This detailed plan will be consistent with but more specific than the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan. This work will include the development of specific design standards and development regulations for the Village. Based upon prior planning efforts, the Committee may focus on many issues, including, but not limited to land use, capital improvements, landscaping, parking, stormwater, habitat and pedestrian connectivity. Once draft proposals have been shepherded thorough the Lopez Village public participation process they will be transmitted to the Planning Commission and County Council for review and action.
Please stay tuned for opportunities to contribute to this planning process. The County looks forward to engaging Lopez Village stakeholders in this important endeavor.
