Here’s this month’s history column, submitted by the SJI Historical Museum…
School bells are ringing once again, just as they did in 1960 when teacher Winnie Sundstrom gathered her Friday Harbor third graders for their class photo. The San Juan Historical Museum hopes you can help identify all these smiling kids. Anyone see yourself here?

I think 4th in from right, top row, looks like Snooky Tarte… But I honestly have no idea how old she is. I just know her from Marketplace and that she has twin granddaughters…

When I find the box with the pictures from school I’ll fill in the blanks. I wrote the names on the back of my class picture.

The boy in the middle row between Jerry Morrill and Terressa Sundstrom is Jimmy Spurline.
The boy in the front row holding the sign between Diane and Pam Stewart is Bobby Brown. Oh, and the boy between Ella Larsen and Jerry Brower in the top row is Karl Hager.
