SJ Singers Go All-American
Posted April 9, 2015 at 5:55 am by Tim Dustrude
San Juan Island’s community chorus celebrates America in all her glorious music during their spring concert at San Juan Community Theatre on Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 12 at 5:00 p.m.
Director Angel Michaels says the concert will be full of all-American songs about our homes, our lives, our neighbors, our work and our play. “With one notable exception, which you will simply have to come hear it to know about it,” she added.
From the grand music of Aaron Copland’s Tender Land to the simple strains of America the Beautiful, the rugged beauty and the boisterous energy that underlies American culture is captured in the music. Drawing on music written by Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Scott Joplin, and Paul Simon and others, the program is full of lively tunes and beautiful melodies.
The evening’s Business Partner is Lake Kennedy McCulloch CPAs. Concert tickets are $16 for adults, $8 for student reserved, with $5 student RUSH one hour before the show.
The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or tickets may be purchased on-line at www.sjctheatre.org.
