A 96th birthday celebration for Gordon Steele will be held at the Village at the Harbour, 543 Spring Street on Sunday, May 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. It is a ‘Come and Go’ event.
‘To the Moon and Beyond’ is a historical journey that begins with photos and personal memorabilia from the 1920’s through the founding of and international acclaim of Luxel Corporation.
This presentation showcases Steele’s life and scientific contributions ranging from the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to the electroluminescent lighting aboard the Apollo Lunar Module to the “best white-light images of the sun” from Space Lab 2.
There is much more. Stop by the Village to honor Gordon Nevins Steele, an island smart guy, scientist, inventor, builder, roller coaster phenom and San Juan County Fair zucchini racer extraordinaire.
