Cymbeline – Final Week at Roche
Posted July 29, 2015 at 5:50 am by Tim Dustrude
Here’s a note from Helen with Island Stage Left about their current show Cymbeline…
This is the last week of “Cymbeline” at Roche Harbor (Thurs – Sun at 8:00). Next week we open at 1062 Wold Rd (8:00 Fri – Sun)
Audience members’ comments tell it better than we can, although we have to boast that on one night after the show, I was met by a 93 year old, a five year old and a seven year old all of whom were apparently transported – the two younger ones seeing their first Shakespeare ever!
Here are some culled comments:
I wanted to congratulate you on the production of “Cymbeline” which I saw this past Saturday night. We enjoyed it so much.
This little-performed play benefited from wonderful performances by the cast and crew along with the expert editing.
Thank you for providing entertainment options in isolated places. It was completely enjoyable, and I will definitely return for other productions.
I was so pleased with the production. It was my daughter’s first exposure to Cymbeline and the fact that she enjoyed it and seemed to have been able to follow it well spoke to the success of reaching first-timers with this less familiar but very rewarding play. While the characters were different from how I imagined them in my readings, in this, my first performance exposure, your actors won me over pretty quickly and I could relax in confidence of their authenticity and capability. Each was exceptional in their own way. Thank you.
Every year the shows just get better.
Cymbeline was wonderful… loved the costuming, the action, the twists and turns of plot.
What fun it was to be at opening night at the Roche Harbor Theatre.
Lopezians Loved it!! I been hearing great reviews and I got to see it twice! If you get a chance you should too!
My entire party really enjoyed Cymbeline! None of us were familiar with it. It was well-paced; never seemed slow! And the acting was, as usual, top-notch. Changing characters with just a hat or a sash worked really well, too. Magical! And no mosquitoes!
Thank you! The opening performance was brilliant!
Will be there many times to experience all I can before I leave the island.
About Cymbeline:
One of Shakespeare’s last, and lesser known plays, crammed full of romance, treachery, peace and forgiveness. A play for our time too, with every plot device you can imagine! Sit under the moon and stars and wallow in the magic.
At Roche Harbor Outdoor Stage Thursday thru Sunday, July 30th – August 2nd; Then at 1062 Wold Road Fridays thru Sundays, August 7th – 23rd.
