Audience comments:
“Thank you for a lovely performance of Shining City tonight.”
Seattle Times Arts reviewer.
Congratulations. This play is a demonstration of what the mission of Stage Left is: bringing serious theatre to the community. In our car on the way home, the only topic of conversation was the play.
We had season tickets to the Old Globe in San Diego and this was every bit as good as, if not better than, any production we saw there.
Fantastic. I’m not much of a theatre person but I’m really glad I went. Fantastic acting!
We all have some of “those people” in our family and might even have some of that stuff going on ourselves (ghosts of guilt), so I watched the play with morbid fascination and was completely absorbed in the characters and their human transgressions, lies and betrayals. If only we could be that open and honest in real life, conversations would be so much more interesting!
Provocative story line, simply and earnestly told. Nice work.
Thank you for all you guys do
Thank you for your superb performance on Friday Night in Shining City. You gave us one of the finest acting performances that we have ever seen. Truly amazing.
Went to see this performance tonight! Absolutely amazing and I am planning on seeing it a second time before it ends its run. Great performances by the entire cast and there is even a reference to Longford, my home town in Ireland!
That was wonderful! Congratulations on a thought-provoking production, beautifully done.
Dan,
Your performance last night truly demonstrated what a fine fine actor you are. What a tremendously difficult role. You played it beautifully.
I checked it out last night to see if my husband would like it as the rumors around town are that “it makes one uncomfortable.” I LOVED IT! Some of the best acting I’ve seen with Island Stage Left! I am taking my husband to see it soon.
“THIS PLAY IS A MUST SEE!
I think Shining City is one of Island Stage Left’s best productions to date… and one of Dan Mayes’ best performances. The whole cast is just excellent.”
Shining City is a must see for the story, the acting, a compassionate and truth telling exploration into human nature. Every cast member gives a stellar performance. Enjoy!”
