Seeking Volunteers for Trails Work Party
Posted October 16, 2017 at 5:46 am by Tim Dustrude
The San Juan Island Trails Committee is looking for some volunteers to help out with some trail maintenance on the Airport Trail in town, on Tuesday, Oct. 17th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Park at the Skagit Valley College parking lot where we’ll meet/sign in.
Clothing: Bring eye protection please and wear sturdy clothing as we will cut brush and blackberries and do some shovel/spade work to level the trail. GOOD protective shoes and leather gloves are necessary.
Equipment to bring: Bring any non-motorized hand tools useful for shrub/brush/berry cutting and removal such as loppers, shears, rakes, etc. More soft tine and hard tine rakes are needed. We’ll use a new small, lightweight electric hedge trimmer that works really well on blackberries.
