A special Port of Friday Harbor meeting will be held at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 16 via Zoom. Visit https://www.portfridayharbor.org/december-16-2020-special-meeting-documents/ for instructions on how to log into the meeting.
The Port of Friday Harbor has completed a conceptual design for a 15,000 sq. ft. Marine Technical Center and Island Oil Spill Association headquarters on vacant land at the Jensen’s Marina and Boatyard.
This building is intended to house incubation space, marine-related maker space, and marine trade or professional services.
Port of Friday Harbor commissioners invite the community to this special meeting to gather public input on both the design of the building and potential uses within the completed building.
Proposed Timeline:
2018: Purchased Jensen’s Boatyard and Marina.
2019: Purchased Shipyard Cove Boatyard and Marina.
Early 2020: Completed combined Jensen’s/Shipyard Cove Master Plan.
Late 2020: Completed grant and financial structure for our phase 1 project of The Albert Jensen & Sons Marine Technical Center.
(The schedule for this center is highly influenced by grant investment schedules.)
2021: Design completion and permitting. Permitting is a long lead task and requires us to expedite design to the extent possible.
2022: Marine Technical Center construction and occupancy.
